The basics of using the Samarkand companion guide.

These terms govern your use of the Samarkand companion guide ("the platform"), including the web app, the mobile app, and any associated services. By using the platform you agree to the terms below. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.

1. The service we provide

The platform is an editorial travel guide to Samarkand, Uzbekistan. It includes listings for attractions, hotels, restaurants, hospitals, weekly local insight, itinerary tools and audio guides. Content is curated by our editorial team, and we try hard to keep it accurate, but the platform is provided as a guide — not as a substitute for first-hand verification.

Opening hours, prices, transit times and emergency contacts can change without notice. Always confirm time-critical details with the venue or with local authorities before you rely on them.

2. Accounts

You may use most of the platform without an account. Saving itineraries, favourites and reviews requires that you create one. You are responsible for keeping your credentials safe and for the activity under your account. Let us know immediately if you suspect it has been compromised.

You must be 13 or older to create an account. If you are between 13 and the age of majority where you live, you must have permission from a parent or guardian.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Submit unlawful, defamatory, hateful or fraudulent content.
• Submit reviews for venues you have not visited, or accept payment to influence ratings.
• Scrape, mirror or republish substantial parts of the listings without permission.
• Probe, attack or attempt to bypass the platform's security or rate limits.
• Use the platform to harass other users, editors or business owners.

We may remove content and suspend accounts that breach these rules.

4. Your content

When you submit reviews, photos, itineraries or other content, you keep ownership of it. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display and translate it for the purpose of running the platform. You confirm that you have the right to share whatever you submit.

5. Editorial content

Listings, descriptions, photography and audio guides produced by our editorial team are protected by copyright. You may share short excerpts with attribution and a link back to the platform. For larger uses, please get in touch.

6. Third-party venues and services

The platform links to and describes independent businesses, monuments and public services in Samarkand. We are not affiliated with most of them, and listings are not endorsements. Any transaction you make with a venue is between you and them.

7. AI-generated suggestions

Itinerary suggestions, summaries and translated audio may be generated with help from large language models and text-to-speech services. They are reviewed by our editors but can still be wrong. Treat them as a useful starting point, not as authoritative.

8. Disclaimers

The platform is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the platform will be uninterrupted, free of errors, or that every listing is current.

9. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, the platform, its operators and contributors are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform — including but not limited to missed connections, closed venues or inaccurate listings. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death, personal injury or fraud where the law does not allow it.

10. Termination

You may delete your account at any time from the account page. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms, after which sections 4, 5, 8 and 9 will survive.

11. Changes to these terms

We may revise these terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page and, for material changes, notify account holders by email before the change takes effect.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Uzbekistan, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes will be heard by the competent courts of Samarkand unless local consumer protection law gives you a different choice.
